Baptism Confirmation and Services of Thanksgiving

Congratulations!  Whether or not you were brought up to believe in God or the Christian faith, new parents and new explorers of Christianity often find themselves looking at the questions of faith afresh and maybe this is why you are seeking baptism now for you of for your child. Whatever your reasons baptism is about the beginning of a journey, discovering God and allowing ourselves to be formed according to the teachings and life of Jesus.

At St Andrew’s we wish to help you with this journey in the following ways:
First, you are invited to discuss with our parish priest, what baptism means for you and to talk through some of the practicalities of the service. Everyone needs different amounts of preparation for baptism and that is something that you can discuss with us.

Second, the baptism itself. You will receive a warm welcome on the day and on another occasion be welcomed into the church community during the main service. We really do wish to support and encourage you. We are all at different stages on the journey of discovering God.

You may, of course, decide that baptism is not yet something you wish to commit your child to. If so, we can offer a service of thanksgiving for your child. If this is something that you would be interested in please contact us to explore this further.
If you would like to explore Confirmation then we would also be delighted to meet with you. Every year, we offer a course for adults and for children in Year Five and above who are considering getting confirmed.
